The University of Plymouth has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2022 Green Gown Awards, including Benefitting Society and Research with Impact. The awards recognise excellence in sustainability across higher and further education.

In the Benefitting Society category, the Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise (PDSE) aligned to the university’s Peninsula Dental School have been providing free dental treatment to those excluded from society, such as those experiencing homelessness.

In the Research With Impact category, the university’s project ‘CobBauge’ has been testing whether building homes with an ultra-low carbon material called ‘cob’ could be a viable way to build more sustainably.

The award winners will be announced on 8 November 2022.
