The Plymouth City Council Planning Committee have unanimously approved the construction of a new community-owned solar farm next year.

The 13MW solar farm will be located on the old landfill site at Chelson Meadow, as a partnership between the Council and local charity Plymouth Energy Community (PEC). It is set to significantly reduce carbon emissions while being able to power 3,680 homes a year, increasing the city’s renewable power generation by almost 50%.

How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?

Action E1.2:  Identify opportunities for large-scale renewable energy and storage deployment on land owned or managed by Devon Climate Emergency partners, and wider business community.
