Torridge District Council to Establish new Community Woodland
24.07.24

Torridge District Council has announced plans to establish a community woodland at the Gatefield Amenity Grassland in Bideford. Its first public consultation took place on the 22nd of July at Kingsley School Library, with its next on the 27th of July at Gatefield Amenity Grassland itself. Opportunity to partake in an online consultation is also available for those unable to attend in person.
This forms part of Torridge District Council’s commitment to plant 10,000 urban trees by 2025. The woodland will serve as a wildlife corridor, connecting areas of habitat surrounding the area. It will also act as a carbon sink, trapping more and more carbon from the air as the woodland establishes.
Full details for both upcoming consultation opportunities can be found here.
