This winter, Torquay will welcome a fleet of 55 all-electric buses, thanks to a £361,000 funding boost from the Department for Transport (DfT). This initiative will make Stagecoach’s Torquay depot the first fully-electric depot in the South West.
Funded by the DfT’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas 2 scheme, these buses will save carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to removing 2,000 diesel cars from the road, improving air quality.
Peter Knight, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, called this “an important milestone” towards net zero.
