“Right Place: Right Tree” Guidance Launched
The Devon Local Nature Partnership has launched “Right Tree: Right Place” guidance for prospective tree planters in Devon.
Whilst tree planting is generally a positive way to help the environment by storing carbon and increasing biodiversity, planting the wrong species of tree in an inappropriate location can cause more harm than good.
This new guidance will ensure that tree planting is optimal in terms of its environmental benefit, and that those who have undertaken the planting are aware of the correct and necessary aftercare for their saplings.

How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
Tree planting is an excellent way to suck carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and lock it away as carbon in the biomass of the tree itself and the soil.
