Plymouth City Council have agreed a £2.5 million investment into smart street lighting, which will help to cut carbon emissions.

Sensors on lamp posts will allow the lights to be dimmed and brightened more intelligently. Improvements are estimated to save up to 538 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.
