North Devon Council has pledged to recognise its role in reducing carbon emissions, and make steps towards decarbonisation, by adopting a Carbon, Environment and Biodiversity Plan.

The plan highlights council and district carbon footprints, alongside action to reduce emissions, support towns and villages to do the same, and enhance wildlife. Priority projects include investing in renewable energy, planting 24,000 trees and encouraging behaviour change.
