The National Farmers’ Union (SW) and the Woodland Trust have partnered to deliver a second annual free tree giveaway for NFU members in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Across Devon, 34,200 trees have been collected and planted by NFU members. Farmer and grower members could collect up to 90 trees from a selection of three different tree packs and two hedgerow packs. Packs included spiral guards and canes, so farmers had everything they needed to get busy planting.

On tree collection days, Woodland Trust colleagues were on hand to give specialist advice to NFU members on where and how best to plant their trees, focusing on planting the right tree in the right place.

The tree giveaway has been a great way to encourage farmers to plant more trees, add to woodland and fill gaps in hedgerows, and many of our members are incredibly keen to plant more.

How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
