Rain gardens are set to be installed in New George Street, Plymouth, as part of a new ‘Sustainable Urban Drainage’ system (SUDs).

The gardens will protect the area from flooding in times of very heavy rainfall, and the water will be used to irrigate new plants and trees.

The section of the street undergoing works is planned to be reopened in time for Christmas shopping.
