Planning permission has been granted for the construction of new cycling facilities at the Velopark in Paignton.

The facilities will include a Community Cycling Hub, a Cyclocross racing track, a Pump Track (smooth dirt mounds) and cycle hire. They are expected to be installed by the start of September.

The project will be funded using a combination of funds from British Cycling’s Places to Ride capital grants programme by Lex Leisure and Mid Devon Cycling Club, amounting to more than £33,000, and an additional £28,000 from Mid Devon Cycling Club.

The building of new facilities like these comes as more and more people in Devon are choosing to start cycling, and they are hoped to make cycling a more accessible mode of transport and source of exercise.
