Teignbridge Council’s leisure centres and Forde House offices are undergoing multi-million pound carbon reduction works.

Over the past year, a combination of old heating and lighting systems have been removed from Newton Abbot and Broadmeadow Leisure Centre, The Lido and Forde House and replaced with low carbon greener energy systems.

Teignbridge Council have also bid for more funding to replace Broadmeadow’s gas fired heating boilers with air source heat pumps.

As well as reducing the Council’s carbon footprint, the improvements are expected to save £100,000 in a full year.

Update:

New plans will see Broadmeadow undergo a £3.7 million project to reduce heat loss and the need for active cooling, along with other improvements, These measures are anticipated to take the equivalent of 26 cars off the road.
