Residents of Marldon, South Hams, have come together to form a composting group to deal with green waste locally.

Following a collaborative bid with Sustainable South Hams, which spoke of the appetite to ‘fight climate change locally’, the group secured funding of £9,000 from the council. This will allow them to accept and process green waste, turning it into compost for local use.

The council’s grounds maintenance team will assist the group in shredding and turning the green waste.

Reducing the need to transport green waste around the county and ensuring it is composted will help to reduce South Hams’ carbon footprint.
