Improving the Energy Efficiency of Rented Properties in Devon
Exeter City Council has been awarded £70,000 to help prevent landlords from renting homes with poor energy efficiency. This policy will help to protect the health and wellbeing of tenants, as well as alleviating fuel poverty. At the moment, landlords are unable to let homes with an energy performance certificate rating of F or G, however the government plans to increase that to a minimum rating of C by 2028.
This measure should help to decrease the emissions caused by poorly insulated housing, by reducing the fuel needed to heat a home.

Action B9: Work with government to review The Domestic Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard Regulations to make it more effective and practical for local authorities to enforce non-compliance.
