Work has begun on three leisure centres in Teignbridge after Teignbridge Council received a £2.3 million grant to install green technology and reduce the carbon footprint of the buildings earlier this year.

The grant will be spent installing Solar PV, battery storage and building management system upgrades. This should reduce Teignbridge’s carbon footprint by 280 tonnes in year one – the equivalent of emissions from 100 homes.

Increasing the energy-efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint of existing buildings in Devon is a valuable step towards decarbonising our built environment.
