Government provides £1.5 million to support green economy in the Great South West
08.07.22

The Great South West and its activities will be supported by £1.5 million in core funding from Government over the next three years, in order to fast-track the region’s sustainable economic growth.
The funding was secured after the release of the Great South West’s plans to deliver net-zero activities in the region, which are detailed in their prospectus, The UK’s Natural Powerhouse. A population of over 3 million, an economy of £64.4 billion and almost 128,000 businesses are set to benefit from this boost in green economic growth.
The funding will help Great South West to deliver on their five priorities: improving rural productivity, increasing trade and investment, driving forward the marine and maritime economy, supporting the tourism industry and creating a green energy powerhouse.
How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
Action C1. Foster innovation in technologies, institutions, business models, policy design and behaviour to achieve net-zero.
Action R5. Support immature industries and new models that have the potential to contribute to delivering net-zero.
