Exeter’s Topsham Road to become city’s first ‘wild highway’
14.04.22

Devon Wildlife Trust and Exeter City Council have teamed up to transform one of Exeter’s busiest roads into a wildlife-friendly highway.
Areas along the road have been dug and sown with wildflower seeds. Grass verges will also be allowed to grow longer in some areas, creating habitats for pollinating insects.
The initiative is part of the Exeter Wild City project, which for the past decade has seen Devon Wildlife Trust and Exeter City Council working with local communities in the city.
Creating these habitats will help connect up the city’s wild spaces, making it easier for wildlife to thrive.
