Exeter’s new low-carbon leisure centre nearing completion

The new leisure centre that has been under development at St Sidwell’s Point in Exeter is nearing completion. The first leisure centre to be built to Passivhaus standard, St Sidwell’s Point is 70% more energy-efficient than required by current building regulations.
Passivhaus buildings are built to be highly energy-efficient, therefore require very little energy to heat or cool them. They are designed to be adaptable throughout the net-zero transition, and can be joined easily to a decarbonised grid. Taking a Passivhaus approach to new, large-scale projects such as St Sidwell’s Point is an exciting development towards low-carbon planning. The facility is expected to open in Spring 2022.
