Exeter’s New Bus Station
Exeter City Council, a partner of DCE, have opened the city’s new look £8 million bus station. The station, situated on Paris Street, acts as a gateway into the city, providing a clean, modern and sheltered space to protect passengers in all weathers.
The new facilities are part of Exeter City Council’s target of reaching net-zero by 2030 and aim to increase uptake of bus use, helping to reduce emissions from private vehicles and make bus travel more attractive.
The bus station is part of wider redevelopment of the area with an ultra-low carbon leisure centre being built at St Sidwell’s Point. This leisure centre is UK’s first Passivhaus standard leisure centre and has been designed to withstand climate impacts for the next 80 years, with a 70% reduction in annual energy consumption.
