In November this year, Devon County Council received £300,000 worth of funding from the Woodland Trust to form an Emergency Tree Fund. This funding will be used to accelerate tree planting across Devon to help address climate change, support nature recovery and counter the effects of tree diseases.

The council is currently seeking to work with parish councils in order to promote the scheme, and to carry out large-scale tree planting in Devon parishes. They have also offered 70 Tree Packs to landowners containing a mix of 45 different tree species.

How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?

The Emergency Tree Fund will contribute towards the Devon Carbon Plan’s target to increase tree cover in Devon by up to 19% by 2050.
