Devon County Council is in the early stages of a project to assess the feasibility of a new scheme, which would see community energy groups using farmland to expand Devon’s renewable electricity capacity.

The project forms part of European Interreg-funded work investigating the generation of renewable energy within the agricultural sector.

If the project is successful, renewable energy installations may be developed on low-grade agricultural land and farm buildings. This will help contribute to Devon reaching net-zero by 2050 at the latest, as outlined in the Devon Carbon Plan.
