Devon County Council & Exeter City Council trialling new way to treat cycle paths during cold weather
In order to encourage active travel and reduce carbon emissions, Devon County Council and Exeter City Council are trialling a new method of treating cycle paths in order to make them safe to use during cold and adverse weather.
The recent cold snap in the UK has highlighted the need to enable actively travelling commuters to continue to use cycle paths in all weather. If the trial is successful, the treatment will be applied to cycle paths from early winter through until May, meaning cyclists will be able to make use of off-road routes all year round.
Transport now accounts for 30% of all of Devon’s carbon emissions, making efforts to decarbonise this sector more important than ever.
How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
