Devon County Council and five other local authorities have launched the Devon Energy Prospectus, a bold new strategy to attract investment and innovation in clean energy. The prospectus outlines the region’s strengths in floating offshore wind (FLOW), with the White Cross project in North Devon set to power 135,000 homes by 2028. Devon’s robust supply chain, strategic port infrastructure, and world-class marine engineering and research facilities position it as a national leader in clean energy.

The initiative also highlights opportunities in solar, green hydrogen, geothermal energy, and critical minerals, supported by a skilled workforce and strong training programmes. Councillors across the region emphasised the economic and environmental benefits, including job creation, energy security, and regional growth.

Importantly, the work of the Devon Energy Planning Group continues to ensure the Regional Energy Strategic Plan being prepared by the National Energy System Operator (NESO) will help deliver the prospectus’ vision and opportunities.

This collaborative vision aims to reshape Devon’s economy while accelerating the UK’s transition to net-zero.
