Devon County Council & Devon Climate Emergency staff plant 210 trees at Follaton Arboretum
06.01.22

Last month, the Devon Climate Emergency secretariat and staff from Devon County Council’s Environment Group planted 210 trees at Follaton Arboretum in Totnes.
Increasing tree cover in Devon is one of the goals outlined in the Interim Devon Carbon Plan, as trees help to mitigate the effects of climate change, sequester carbon, and increase biodiversity.
The Carbon Plan aims to increase tree cover in Devon to 19% by 2050 following the Climate Change Committee’s recommendations.
How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
Action F1.1: Identify opportunities for the protection, restoration, and creation of habitats that increase carbon sequestration and storage alongside bringing benefits for nature and people.
