Council launches latest round of Green Enterprise Grants to drive net-zero investment
9 June 2026

Mid Devon District Council introduced the latest iteration of its Green Enterprise Grants programme on 12th May 2026, a competitive capital grant initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the district’s journey towards a net-zero future. The scheme is designed to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and social enterprises across Mid Devon in making investments in energy-efficient and low-carbon enhancements. This current round also extends eligibility to charity-owned and community-managed multi-purpose village halls, parish halls, and community centres.
Grants are provided for one-off, permanent capital improvements that effectively lower energy usage, resource consumption, or greenhouse gas emissions. Eligible organisations can apply for grants covering up to 50% of the capital project costs, with individual awards ranging from £500 to £5,000. Councillor Natasha Bradshaw, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, stated that these grants will enable businesses and organisations in Mid Devon to implement practical, long-term improvements that will both cut emissions and reduce operating expenses.
Applicants are required to have been trading for a minimum of two years, be financially stable, and possess a business or organisation bank account. Projects must clearly demonstrate measurable carbon saving outcomes. Examples of eligible capital investments include upgrades to low-carbon heating and cooling systems, installations of renewable energy technologies such as solar thermal, energy-efficient lighting, insulation and fabric improvements, water efficiency systems, and equipment aimed at reducing, reusing, or recycling resources and waste.
The scheme is set to remain open until March 2028, or until all allocated funds have been disbursed.
