Devon County Council have launched a public consultation on proposals to upgrade Barnstaple’s Longbridge Junction, including improvements to walking and cycling links.

The £500,000 scheme, which would be funded by developer contributions from the previous development of ASDA and Taw Wharf, includes:

1) Removal of most of the traffic signals.
2) Improved crossings.
3) Removal of left and right turns into Seven Brethren Bank.
4) Changed lane markings at the Station Road roundabout (Halfords).
5) A new formal crossing on Station Road near the roundabout (Halfords).

Improvements are intended to encourage active travel and make it easier for all users, including pedestrians and cyclists.

The consultation is open until Wednesday 8th November here.
