Community Groups in Devon Quadruple the Amount of Waste Prevented from Entering Landfill Sites

Community Action Groups Devon (CAG Devon) have reported that in spite of three lockdowns, 20 community groups across the county have quadrupled the amount of waste put to good use! They have saved 16.62 tonnes of waste and prevented 60 tonnes of carbon from entering the atmosphere! This is an inspiring achievement and testifies to the power of community action in the face of the climate crisis.

How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
Goal 7.4: ‘We avoid creating waste through consuming less, sharing and repairing’.
This achievement, alongside the work of many other community groups, all contributes to reducing the amount of waste (and therefore the amount of greenhouse gas emissions) produced in Devon. It also shows the power of individual action, which is important in inspiring positive change.
