Active Streets trial scheme coming to Heavitree and Whipton
30.06.23

Councillors have voted in support of an Active Streets trial scheme which will remove through traffic from Heavitree and Whipton’s key residential areas.
Temporary bollards, planters and bus gates will be placed to reduce traffic on residential streets. All areas will still be accessible by car via alternative routes.
The scheme aims to make active travel, like walking and cycling, more accessible for local people.
It has been developed following two phases of consultation with local people and businesses, and further engagement with local councillors and other key stakeholders.Â
Once the trial begins, the first six months will be a statutory consultation period, which will enable local residents and stakeholders to provide feedback on the changes and inform next steps.
