Devon Solar Together, led by Devon County Council, is a scheme partnered by 10 of Devon’s planning authorities, all of whom are Devon Climate Emergency partners. The scheme facilitated group-buying for solar panels and batteries, bringing the cost down for local residents.
Overall, the scheme has helped to install 7,000 solar panels across Devon, equivalent to a small solar farm (2MW capacity): in a year it will reduce carbon emissions equivalent of taking 135 cars off the road.
Close to a fifth of all Devon’s carbon emissions are produced by our homes. Transitioning away from fossil fuels to heat and power homes will be key to securing net-zero before 2050.
How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
