24,000 trees to be planted in Barnstaple community woodland
18.07.22, updated 15.12.22

North Devon Council will be planting 24,000 new trees, expanding a community woodland in the Barnstaple area and fast-tracking their target to become net-zero by 2030.
This expansion will help to offset the Council’s carbon emissions, while also linking up three existing woodlands and expanding habitats available for local wildlife. The community will be able to help with the tree planting later in the year.
Update 15.12.22:
Planting has now begun as of Sunday 4th December. The aim is to fully open the extended, community space by spring 2023.
How is this helping Devon reach net-zero?
Goal FE. Mechanisms and Funding are in Place to Protect, Restore and Enhance Nature-Based Carbon Storage.
